AI107: Snowshoes and Husky
The aim of this exciting three-hour snowshoe trek is to have a close-up experience in the silent Arctic nature. We will be joined by one of our Alaskan Huskies – Javri or Phelps – to help pull or carry the gear.
This snowshoeing trek will take us through the Alta Valley along the banks of the Alta River. We will see how the landscape was formed by the ice that covered the entire region 10,000 years ago. Your guide will tell you about the Alta area and the Alta River in more detail. Keep an eye open for fox and rabbit tracks; if we are especially lucky, we might even see the animals that made them! Along the way, we will take a break and make an open fire to brew tea, coffee or hot chocolate and some snacks.
The tour includes transport from and back to Alta, thermal suits and overshoes if needed, hot drinks and snacks.
